Sussex County Master Gardeners 2005
The Master Gardeners of Sussex County have many on-going projects including: · Answering Gardening Questions · Demonstration Garden · Walk in the Woods · Public Workshops · Fisher Martin Herb Garden From April through
October of each year, Master Gardeners provide answers to gardening questions
from homeowners, while answering the phone in the Extension Office. This allows Cooperative Extension to
expand its home horticultural educational programs. To ask a question, call 302-856-2585 ext. 535.
Volunteers staff the office from 10:00 a.m. -12:00 noon and 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.
After staffing hours, please leave a detailed message with your name,
address and telephone number so that we can better help you with your gardening
questions. If
you plan to visit the office, please call 856-7303 prior to your visit to
confirm a meeting time
when a volunteer or staff member can meet with you.
The Master Gardeners plant and maintain a Demonstration Garden which is open to the public year-round. The garden, which includes perennial flowers, annual flowers, vegetables, trees, and shrubs, is redesigned each year. It is located at the University of Delaware Research and Education Center in Georgetown, Delaware. The Master Gardeners are inviting the public to work with them in our garden August 16, 2005, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. Call for more details – 302-856-7303. The Master Gardeners encourage schoolchildren to learn more about their environment through the Walk in the Woods program. Each fall, Master Gardeners take classes of schoolchildren for a walk along a wooded trail, pointing out the trees and shrubs growing along the way. They also help the children looks for evidence of wildlife living in the woods.
